Over 600 ad hoc KP and FATA (Federally Administered Tribal Areas) teachers continued their protest today

PESHAWAR: The negotiations between the protesting ad-hoc teachers and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government have failed, following which the teachers announced to surround the residence of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chief Imran Khan on October 17.

Over 600 ad-hoc KP and FATA (Federally Administered Tribal Areas) teachers are demanding they be made permanent employees after their extended contract ends on October 31.

On Wednesday, Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervaiz Khattak met with the representatives' delegation.

During the meeting, Khattak said he agreed to take back the decision regarding the formation of aboard of governors in colleges.

The chief minister, however, said that the demands regarding professional allowance and upgradation will put anadditional burden on the provincial government’s finances and under the current circumstances that is unacceptable.

Following this, the teachers denied to accept the terms of the provincial government and announced to continue the protests.

Teachers Action Committee in-charge Jamshed Khan said the chief minister spoke harshly to them and left without listening to their stance.

The protesting teachers while boycotting the election and examination duties said that their protest against the chief minister'sbehaviourwill take place outside Imran Khan’s residence.

The protesting teachers were hired in 2014 through a test. Their contract was to end last year but they were given an extension after carrying out a protest. However, the extended date is expiring on October 31.
