RAWALPINDI: Special Court Customs on Monday dismissed the bail plea of Pakistani model Ayyan Ali, who was taken into custody and sent on 14-day judicial remand after being found in possession of $500,000 by custom authorities at the Benazir International Airport.

Special court judge Chaudhary Mumtaz pronounced the verdict, earlier reserved by the court in the model’s money laundering case.

Earlier today, Ayyan claimed in court that she had received $500,000 after selling property to former interior minister Rehman Malik’s brother, Khalid Malik.

Two days back, Ayyan was arrested after custom officials found currency notes during the checking of Ayyan Ali’s luggage when she was about to leave for Dubai.

The case was lodged against the accused under Custom Act and the model was presented before Special Judge Custom who sent her on 14-day judicial remand.

Ayyan Ali was moved to medical facility for an examination shortly after being taken into custody.
