Shopkeeper killed, body burnt in Pakpattan

PAKPATTAN: The owner of a local grocery store was killed and his body burnt in Pakpattan on Wednesday, police said.

According to police, the burnt body of Riaz, the shopkeeper, was found in the morning inside his house where he appeared to have been sleeping before unknown men murdered him the previous night.

They added that Riaz did not have any children, and he owned a local grocery shop in Peerkot neighbourhood.

Neighbours said that there had been a burglary at Riaz's shop a few days ago and, apart from registering a case at the police station, he had also expressed suspicion on some member of a local village council.

Police said that they have started investigation, and that the body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
