KARACHI: Elections for the Academic Council of the University of Karachi (KU) under the University Act 1972, for associate professors, assistant professors and lecturers would be held on Thursday March 03, 2011 at the Arts Auditorium, Registrar of KU Professor M Kaleem Raza Khan said on Sunday.

The elections would be held from 09:30am to 1pm for the positions of two associate professor, other than the chairman of the teaching departments, as well as four assistant professor and lecturers, Khan said.

The nomination papers would be submitted by the candidate at the Registrar’s Office on Thursday, February 24 from 10am to 1pm and no nomination paper would be accepted by mail or courier service, he added.

The last date for the withdrawal of candidates is Monday, February 28 from 10am to 1pm and the request for withdrawal should be submitted in person at the Registrar Office. The final list of candidates would be put on display on Monday, February 28, 2011 by 3pm, Khan added.

Those university teachers, who are on study leave/foreign service leave or on deputation from KU, would not be allowed to participate in the election even if they are present in Karachi, unless they rejoin, the KU registrar said.

Every voter must verbally quote his or her serial number at the time of the issue of Ballot Paper to facilitate the location of their name to the voter’s list, he also said. The objection to the voter’s list, if any, must filed by 1:00pm on February 19.
