KARACHI: Inspector General of Police (IGP), Sindh, Fayyaz Ahmed Leghari, has asked the Regional Police Officers (RPO) of the province to take extra-ordinary security measures on Pakistan Day to be observed on March 23rd.

According to a statement of the IGP office issued here on Sunday, he issued the directives to the RPOs of Hyderabad, Sukkur and the CCPO Karachi to keep the police force vigilant to thwart any act of terrorism.

It was pointed out that being a public holiday on March 23rd, people will visit various places including mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammed Ali Jinnah and other places. He also asked the respective heads of the police to make effective snap checking at exit and entry points of major cities of the province, particularly, in Karachi.

In addition, he also called for extra-security arrangements for all functions to be arranged for Pakistan Day celebrations.

The IGP Leghari also ordered that it should be ensured that the policemen deployed at various places should not harass or misbehave with the masses on the occasion.

He also appealed the masses to extend full cooperation to the police personnel in the growing sensitive environment of terrorism in the country and said that they should also keep a vigil on any suspicious activity and report the same on IGP's control operation room phone number 021-99873081 and 021-32410900.
