ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani urged parliamentarians to ensure transparency in utilization of funds for flood-affectees, Geo News reported.
He directed the National Highway Authority and other concerned authorities to expedite the rehabilitation work in the flood-affected areas of the country, particularly the repair of roads and strengthening of embankments.
He said the funds had already been allocated for the purpose and timely information must be communicated to the government in case of any shortage of funds.
The Prime Minister was talking to Parliamentarians who called on him at the PM House here this morning.
Gilani said the resilience of people affected by the devastating floods had been acknowledged by the international community. He said the role of the parliamentarians was laudable as they earnestly helped their brethren in their own constituencies as well as in other parts of the country.
The Prime Minister said the directions had been issued to prioritize the constructions of bypass roads to enable the traffic restoration and spare the existing roads from damage because of heavy load.
