MQM faces ‘more conniving B team’ after failure of A team: Siddiqui
KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui early on Saturday said that opponents have fielded their more ‘conniving B team’ after the failure of ‘A team’ against MQM.

Speaking to media representatives at Jinnah Ground, he said the B team was more experienced in netting conspiracies and condemned what he claimed an attack on ‘mothers and sisters’.

He said MQM chief Altaf Hussain has appealed to his workers to show restraint. “However, an attack on our mothers and sisters is highly deplorable,” he added.

Speaking on the occasion, MQM’s candidate for upcoming NA-246 by-poll Kanwar Naveed Jamil said that Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) initiated the clash as they chanted slogans against MQM and attacked its election camp.

He urged the JI leadership to look into the matter and point out violent elements within the party ranks.

Kanwar Naveed also demanded to increase police contingents deployed in the area to ensure peaceful by-elections.

Another MQM leader Qamar Mansoor claimed that the JI workers were armed and even brought their weapons to the police station. “We suspect this was done deliberately,” he said.

Mansoor said that like the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), their doors were also open for Jamaat-e-Islami, adding that a few persons sitting at a camp cannot attack anyone.
