PM Imran reaches Turkey on two-day visit

Prime Minister Imran Khan is set to hold meetings with Turkish businessmen and potential investors

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan reached Turkey on a two-day visit today on the invitation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The prime minister was welcomed upon arrival by Konya’s governor at the airport, while Konya’s mayor and Pakistani envoys were also present at that time.

After his arrival,PM Imran visited Maulana Rumi’s Mausoleum.

The prime minister is accompanied by Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Finance Minister Asad Umar, Federal Minister for Planning Makhdoom KhusroBakhtiar,Adviser to PM on Commerce, Textile, Industry and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood and foreign secretary Tehmina Janjua.

After Friday prayers, PM Imran will be given a reception by the Turkish president and hold a one-on-one meeting.

The premier and the Turkish president are expected to discuss the Afghan peace process, bilateral relations as well as regional and international situation.

PM Imran will also address a ceremony of the business community in Ankara, during his stay.

PM Imran is also expected to address a business forum and hold meetings with Turkish businessmen and potential investors during his visit to the country. The visit is set to help explore new avenues of cooperation and collaboration between the two countries, particularly in the areas of economic, trade and commercial relations.

Late last year, the prime minister embarked on a two-day visit to Malaysia on the invitation of Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Bin Mohamad. He has also visited Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and China since assuming office in August.
