KARACHI: The "Madadgar 15" team stationed in the city's North Nazimabad area on Thursday failed a test by Arif Aslam Rao, the senior superintendent of police (SSP) for Central district and their superior.
According to sources,SSP Rao wished to analyse the performance of the "Madadgar 15" personnel, and, in this regard, made an emergency call, informing them of a dacoity but the team failed to turn up at the place he mentioned for at least 23 minutes.
There was no operation, no team dispatched, and the team members kept makingexcuses that the area was not in the North Nazimabad police station's jurisdiction.
Sources further said that SSP Rao drove around in a car without a registration number plate and, despite a police mobile passing by him, he was not stopped to be checked for not having theregistration plate.
The SSP, subsequently, went to the police station in plain clothes but he was not allowed to meet the station house officer (SHO). At that time, according to the sources, the team in the reporting room was busy talking and the sentry, supposed to be at the gate for duty, was nowhere to be found.
Consequently, SSP Rao suspended the entire "Madadgar 15" police mobile team of North Nazimabad, issued a show cause notice to the police station's SHO and head mohrar, and reprimanded the deputy superintendent of police (DSP).
