LAHORE: Two suspects, including the husband of a woman who was allegedly tortured and had her head shaved after she refused to dance in front of his friends, were handed over to Lahore police on a four-day physical remand on Thursday.

The woman's husband and house help were taken into custody a day earlier after Geo News raised the matter andMinister of State for Interior Shehryar Afridi ordered IGP Punjab to take action.

A video had gone viral on social media of Asma Aziz in which she claimed that her husband Mian Faisal and his employees beat her with pipes, shaved her head, and threatened to strangle her when she refused to dance in front of them.

In the video, Asma said her husband had the house help hold her down, while he shaved her hair and set it on fire. She also said she was beaten routinely by her husband whom she had married four years ago.

Asma added that she somehow managed to escape from the house the next day to the police station, where she was asked for money and not even given a registration slip against her complaint. She was also refused medical treatment as the police kept asking her for money.

Asma further appealed to the public to help her out as she had no one to look out for her. Both of her parents are dead, she added.
