ROTTERDAM, Netherlands: World number two Kim Clijsters exited the Den Bosch Open in the second round after a shock 7-6 6-3 defeat to 82nd-ranked Romina Oprandi of Italy on Tuesday.

Australian Open champion Clijsters, who also lost in the second round at Roland Garros, could only take one of four break points throughout the match while Oprandi took advantage twice to seal the win in just over 90 minutes.

The 28-year-old Clijsters, with four grand slam titles to her name, will now head to Wimbledon as she seeks to win her first grand slam on grass.

Clijsters made a return to action at Roland Garros last month after a two-month injury setback.
