ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority is going to establish a department exclusively to promote tourism and attract tourists from across the country and abroad.

Announcing the annual budget 2011-12, Chairman CDA Imtiaz Inayat Elahi said the department would be tasked to promote the green beauty of the federal capital, also tagged as one of the most beautiful capitals of the world.

He said the department would work under the purview of CDA's environment wing and its modus operandi would be finalized within a couple of weeks.

The Chairman said such exercise would also help promote the soft image of the country as Islamabad represents all of the federating units.

During last few years, several beautiful attractions and recreational points have been developed in the city; however there is still a room for improvement as some more beautification projects are being planned, he said

Among such projects include development of Park Enclave, up-gradation of mini markets, anti-littering drive, water harvesting, cleansing of nullahs and renovation of parks. (APP)
