LAHORE: Lt General (retd) Zulfiqar Khan said that accusations of selling nuclear secrets to North Korea are baseless, Geo News reported Saturday.

Speaking to Geo News correspondent Amin Hafeez, Khan said that American efforts to humiliate Pakistan’s agencies and retired generals are being done to roll back the country’s nuclear program.

A Washington Post report earlier quoted Pakistani nuclear scientist AQ Khan saying that North Korean officials had bribed Pakistani generals for nuclear technology.

Extracts were published by the Washington Post, including a letter in English purportedly from a senior North Korean official to Khan in 1998 detailing payment of $3 million to Pakistan's former army chief, General Jehangir Karamat, and another half-million to Lieutenant General Zulfiqar Khan, who was involved in Pakistan's nuclear bomb tests.
