Avengers: Endgame was nothing short of an emotional roller-coaster ride but the scene that left the audience cheering was undeniably Captain America grabbing Thor’s Mjolnir.
That particular moment was anticipated by Marvel fanatics ever since Avengers: Age of Ultron where he almost lifted the mighty celestial weapon belonging to the God of Thunder, but missed it by mere centimeters.
Unveiling why Captain America aka Steve Rogers waiting until the final Avengers installment to lift the hammer, Marvel Studios’ co-president Louis D’Esposito revealed that Cap could have easily lifted it the first time.
However, he revealed, Chris Evans’ character backed off because he did not want to hurt Thor’s feelings.
“It’s Captain America’s turn to try, and you look over to Thor’s face, and he says, ‘I think he might be able to do it,’ but Cap doesn’t pick it up. But Cap could’ve always picked it up. He didn’t want to at that point because it would’ve not been right,” he said.
The undisputed leader of the Avengers, Captain America takes hold of the Mjolnir in Endgame, knowing it’s the right time as Thanos was inches away from killing Thor.
