BEIJING: Pakistan's 64th Independence Day was celebrated at the Embassy of Pakistan here this morning with traditional zeal.
An impressive ceremony attended by members of the Pakistani community as well as Embassy officials and students of Pakistan Embassy College, Ambassador Masood Khan hoisted the national flag and read out messages of President and Prime Minister of Pakistan.
Speaking to media on this occasion Ambassador Khan said this is a special year for Pakistan-China friendship as both the countries have completed 60 years of diplomatic relations and have declared this year as the year of friendship.
When asked about the recent successful launch of PakSat-1R communication satellite, Ambassador Masood Khan said that Pakistan is grateful to China for providing invaluable strategic support in all sectors. He said space technology is relatively new in the bouquet of our cooperation but China's assistance in this field will yield immense benefits for Pakistan in the years to come.
National anthem was played and children of Pakistan Embassy College presented national songs. Similar ceremonies were simultaneously held at the Consulate Generals in Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu and Hong Kong.
