ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) Tuesday predicted more rains for the upper areas of the country.
According to the PMD, rain with thunder is expected in Kashmir, Malkand, Hazara, Gilgit-Baltistan, Islamabad, Gujranwala and Lahore. However the weather will remain hot and dry in other parts of the country.
Scattered rain with lightning and thunder was recorded in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Tarbela and Mangla both dams' water level is constantly mounting up as additional water coming into national water reservoirs. After constant inflow of additional water now Trabela Dam's water level has mounted up 152 feet from dead level while Mangla Dam's water level has gone up 160 feet from dead level.
According to Flood Forecasting Division, currently Tarbela Dam's total water level is 1530.26 feet; inflow of water is 170,500 cusecs and outflow is 105,000 cusecs.
Mangla Dam's current water level is 1200.85 feet, inflow of water is 19,887 cusecs and outflow is 13,000 cusecs. Chashma Barrage's current water inflow is 170,150 cusecs and out flow is 165,000; the water inflow at Kalabagh is 165,951 cusecs and outflow is 159,451 cusecs. In River Chanab at Marala, current water inflow is 52,629 cusecs and outflow is 34,806 cusecs while in River Kabul at Naushehra the water flow is 38,600 cusecs.
On the other hand a medium flood has been reported in River Sutlej near Kasur after water discharged from India into the river. The water level at the Head Ganda Singh has reached to 18 feet high.
The surge in the water level submerged dozens villages in Kasur district and the crops at thousands of acres destroyed by the floodwater.
The residents of the low-lying areas being shifted to safer areas, as several local people have refused to quit their homes and villages.
