CM visits flood-hit areas of Mirpurkhas
MIRPURKHAS: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that government was making efforts to provide assistance to flood affected people in the province.

Comprehensive project was in the pipeline under which affected growers would be provided seed and fertilizer free of cost.

He was talking to journalist at the residence of PPP MPA Mir Haji Hayat Talpure at Digri town on Monday.

He said that directives had already been issued to concerned officials to drain out the stagnant rain water from the agriculture lands without any delay so that growers could be able to cultivate the crop. He said that President had issued directives to prepare middle, long and short term projects to face the expected natural disaster in coming years.

The CM said that he was visiting the flood affected areas of the province along with technical experts to ensure immediate rehabilitation of the flood affected people.

He directed the officers of SIDA to activate the LBOD outfall drain and ensure their capacity according to their design.

He said that there was capacity of 20000 cusec saline water of LBOD drains and 14000 cusec water of them was discharging in sea while remaining 4000 cusec water caused heavy damages.

Earlier, chief minister accompanied by provincial minister for agriculture Syed Ali Nawaz Shah, MNA Mir Munawar Ali Khan Talpure and MPA Mir Haji Hayat Talpure visited different relief camps at Digri and Tando Jan Mohammad town and also distributed relief ration and other essentials among the rain hit people.

Besides, Sindh chief minister, ministers of MQM and PPP including Syed Ali Nawaz Shah, Adil Siddique, Dr Sagheer Ahmed , Zubair Ahmed, Abid Jatoi, Nadir Magsi, Agha Siraj Durrani, Muzaffar Shajra and secretaries of various departments participated in video conference at the residence of DCO Mirpurkhas.
