Power outages far from over in Karachi

KARACHI: Pakistan's business hub is still putting up with 3-4 hour loadshedding, whereas industrial sites have been exempted, Geo News reported.

Sources told Geo News that owing to various technical faults some areas are out of power for quite a while now.

According to KESC spokesperson overloaded PMTs that tripped after overheating have been the major cause of these outages, furthermore the consumers over there are also defaulters in the books of power utility.

He said we have told the plaintive consumers that unless KESC’s dues are cleared the PMTs would not be repaired/ replaced.

When asked about the reports of voltage fluctuations pouring in from all over the city, the KESC spokesman said this is a manifestation of illegal hookups (kundas), due to which wires get crossed disrupting the transmission/distribution network
