Motorcycling: Simoncelli dies after crash - race official

SEPANG: Honda rider Marco Simoncelli died of injuries sustained in a crash on Sunday that resulted in the cancellation of the Malaysian MotoGP, a race official said.

"It is official. He is dead. He succumbed to his injuries," said an official with Dorna, the company that runs MotoGP, who spoke on condition of anonymity pending a formal announcement.
