KARACHI: The Board of Advanced Studies and Research (BASR) of the Karachi University (KU) awarded 41 degrees, including 11 MPhill, 28 PhD, two MS (Surgery) degrees in various disciplines, said Registrar KU Professor M Kaleem Raza Khan on Wednesday.
A BASR meeting, chaired by KU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui, approved the awarding of the MS (Surgery) degree to Dr Shah Nawaz (MBBS) of the Department of Urology, Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), and Dr Muhammad Anwar (MBBS) of the Department of Neurosurgery (JPMC).
Meanwhile, BASR also approved the awarding of MPhil degrees to Dr Naveed Ali Siddique (MBBS) from the Department of Biochemistry, Dr Muhammad Akbar Hassan (MBBS), Department of Microbiology, Wajid Naeem from European Studies, Syed Yousuf Ejaz and Naheeda Parveen of Pharmaceutics, Sundus Akhtar, Amber Ata and Afshan Ata from the Department of Chemistry (HEJ), Arhum Aijaz from Marine Biology, Shaista Tauqeer and Dr Zamir Ali Siddiqui (MBBS) from Pharmacology.
Furthermore, during its meeting, BASR awarded PhD degrees to Muhammad Asif, Abdul Mohsin, Tabassum Kalsoom Faizi and Hummayun, the Department of Quran and Sunnah, and Sunnah, Muhammad Saad Usmani of the Department of Public Administration, Hafiz Hussain Azhar from Islamic Studies, Shabana Naz from Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Fakhruddin Ghullani from Usool-ud-din, Muhammad Yamin and Dawood, the Department of Urdu, Iram Mansoor Naizi of the Department of Psychology and Shaista Alam from the Department of Economics.
According to the BASR notification, Muneera Naz Baloch and Samina Naz Mukry from Department of Microbiology, Saba Zain and Sarwat Malik of Department of Clinical Psychology, Ajaz Hussain, Amna Nisar Khan, Imran Nafees Siddiqui and Uzma Jabeen from Department of Chemistry (HEJ), Dr Rizwan Ashraf (MBBS) from the Department of Pharmacology, Sabiha Bano, Islamic Learning, Saifuddin Ahmed Jilani from ISPA, Rahmanullah Siddiqui, Department of Food Science and Technology, Sahar Zaidi and Sadaf Gul from Department of Botany, Amir Haider of the Department of Chemistry and Atia Masood Choudhary of the Department of Biochemistry also received PhD degrees.
