ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Interior, Rehman Malik on Wednesday chaired a high level meeting at Ministry of Interior to review security situation and steps being taken to monitor the Muharram-ul-Harram processions throughout the country.
The meeting was informed that the information received in National Crisis Management Cell (NCMC) on any impending law and order situation, is being shared with provinces.
The details of Majalis in the country are Punjab 2783, Sindh 90 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 10 , Balochistan 3 ,ICT 68, Gilgit-Baltistan 94 and AJ&K 18.
Ministry of Interior is monitoring the situation as per the instructions issued during the meeting of Home Secretaries and Inspector Generals, are being implemented in full letter and spirit.
The meeting also reviewed the progress of the incident took place in Karachi on 1st Muharram and asked the IG Police Sindh and DG Rangers Sindh to ensure more patrolling and intelligence agencies have also been directed to provide real time intelligence to the IGs/LEAs directly.
The Minister appreciated all the IGs and Home Secretaries who are monitoring the situation with full vigilance.
He ordered for two additional telephone lines for the public complaints in National Crisis Management Cell (NCMC), Islamabad.
As directed by the Minister, helicopters are placed at the disposal of PPOs in the provinces for surveillance and monitoring of law and order.
