RAWALPINDI: As many as 10,324 police personnel have been deputed to ensure security of 1777 Majalis and 448 processions of Rawalpindi district.
Along with 9000 constables, 450 head constables, 350 assistant sub-inspectors, 400 sub-inspectors, 103 inspectors and 21 senior police officers have been deputed for security duty for Muharram-ul-Harram.
In Rawalpindi district, the Majalis of A category are 208 while 369 of B category and 1200 of C category.
Commission Rawalpindi Zahid Saeed told that in Rawalpindi district there will be 64 licensed while 384 traditional mourning processions.
Zahid Saeed further informed that 83 points of A category, 61 of B category had been declared sensitive in Rawalpindi district for which elaborate security arrangements have been made.
He said that all departments concerned have been directed to make coordinated efforts and play their vital role for the peaceful passage of Ashura Muharram.
Surety bonds are being obtained from the managements of mourning and majalis that they would abide by the code of conduct issued by the Home Department Punjab.
Special contingents of commandos and police officials are being deployed on sensitive points.
According to police spokesman, elaborate security arrangements have been made in the district. Besides the deployment of policemen, a large number of personnel of Elite Force and Special Branch, and ladies police are performing security duty. Additional police force has also been arranged from other districts to perform special security duties in the district.
Stringent security arrangements have been put in place to provide foolproof security to the participants of Majalis and mourning processions, he added. (APP)
