ISLAMABAD: Non-medical staff of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) on Thursday continued strike in support of their demands.
According to hospital sources, due to their boycott from the Out-Patients Department (OPD) and other sections, the medical practitioners were unable to receive patients and give them proper
treatment.
They said that on the day only major operations were conducted, while serious patients in the hospital's emergency unit were received. But, all OPDs remained closed whole the day.
The strike of non-medical staff has entered the fourth day to stress their demand of raise in allowances and other benefits as being received by the medical staff.
Meanwhile, Young Doctors Association (YDA), Federal Government Poly Clinic President, Dr Muhammad Ajmal said that a group of paramedics and clerical staff tried to shut down the hospital on Thursday as they were opposing the implementation of new service
structure (CSHP).
He added YDA responded strictly and normalized the situation and hospital started functioning normally. He said YDA made it clear that any such attempt to roll back new service structure will be dealt strictly.
He said the YDA ensured the smooth running of all OPDS today and full services were provided to the patients. The YDA strongly condemns and rejects any such attempt and vowed to resist it at full scale, he added. (APP)
