WASHINGTON: Pentagon, America’s defence department, in a statement has said that Pakistan and US were involved in talks at all levels, Geo News reported.

Pentagon spokesman, George Little, in a briefing, said that the US and Pakistan shared strategic ties, which, just like any other relation, had had their share of bad patches, but we hoped to get over such bumps.

He also revealed that US Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Martin Dempsey had talked to Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani lately.

He summed up the talk between the generals of both allies in ‘war on terror’ as bilaterally positive.

To a question regarding Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani’s sending the defence secretary home, Pentagon mouthpiece reserved his remarks terming it an issue that hardly qualified as an American concern.

“It’s Pakistan’s internal matter, we have got nothing to comment on”, said Little.

On the occasion, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defence for Media Operations, Captain John Kirby denied reports that Pakistani government had urged US to furnish any assurances against a coup d'état by the armed forces of the country.

Little also talked around the recent drone attack in Miranshah, but went on to add that the US was adamant in dealing blows to al Qaeda, whenever, wherever.
