RAWALPINDI: Public transport vehicles are violating theirdesignated routes in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
The commuters of the twin cities complained of problems because of non-completion of routes by the public transport.
"I board in van of Route Number 3 at Sadiqabad bus stop whose conductor after some time told me that they are only plying up to Faidazabad and not going to Islamabad because of running on petrol due to gas load-shedding", said Inam Ullah, who was waiting at Faizabad bus stop.
However, the same vehicle departed for Islamabad with new passengers who boarded from Faizabad in order to make money, he alleged.
When a traffic sergeant was complained of the situation, he also expressed his helpless and said that due to gas load-shedding, the transporters have to run their vehicles on petrol.
CTP conduct grand operation against encroachers; 65 handcarts confiscated RAWALPINDI, Jan 15 (APP): City Traffic Police (CTP) with the help of other departments concerned including Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) and Chaklala Cantonment Board (CCB), have been making efforts to remove encroachments from roads for smooth traffic flow.
Under special operation conducted in this regard at Chungi No 22, Tench Bhatta Road, Dhoke Saydian chowk, Girja Road, Bakra Mandi, Dhari Hassanabad, Talimori and other bazaars over 65 handcarts and other goods were confiscated.
City Traffic Officer (CTO) Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Ghulam Abbas Tarar has said that City Traffic Police is trying hard to resolve traffic problems of the city. But, smooth flow of traffic on roads is not possible without removing encroachments which are hampering smooth traffic flow on roads.
CTP with the help of Punjab Police, Tehsil Municipal Authority and Cantonment Boards launched special anti-encroachment drive. Raids in this regard are being conducted in various bazaars and markets of the town.
Senior Officer Traffic Syed Ishtiaq Hussain Shah has said that strict action would be taken against the rules violators and encroachers and no relaxation would be given to anyone so that traffic problems could be resolved. The confiscated items were handed over to the departments concerned for further legal action. (APP)
