QUETTA: Provision of health facilities to the masses is not the sole responsibility of the government.

Civil society, NGOs and all other stack holders of the society were equally responsible to play their pivotal role helping out the people in adversity, said the speakers while addressing at a Health Development Forum organized by the Taraqee Foundation here at a local hotel on Monday.

Speakers including Provincial Secretary Health Asmatullah Kakar, Director General Health Dr Masood Noshairwani and CEO Taraqee Foundation Amjad Rashid called for combine efforts to bring betterment in the health sector.

Asmat Kakar while lauding the role of NGOs in the health sector suggested that the representatives of these organizations should work with the government departments and keep liaison so that better results could be acquired out of their strenuous efforts. Dr Masood Noshairwani expressing his concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in the province said that government was struggling to restore the confidence of the international donors.

CEO Taraqee Foundation said that being a biggest province of the country, Balochistan needs additional attention as population here is scattered and outreach to the masses is a big challenge for both government organizations and NGOs.

Stressing the need for making a joint plate form, he said that joint venture of government and NGOs would overcome the shortcomings of the health sector. Seeking government support, he suggested for initiation of Ambulance service by his organization for the health department of the province. (APP)
