PESHAWAR: Rape victim, Uzma Ayub has reunited with her newborn daughter, Geo News reported.
Uzma, who got pregnant after a gang of unruly policemen raped her last year, gave birth to a baby daughter, but refused to own the neonate.
Later, out of motherly she wished to reunite with he daughter.
A non-government organisation (NGO) orphanage, which adopted the baby at her (Uzma’s) behest, has returned the newborn to her mother.
Reports have it that Uzma Ayub, a resident of Pehsawar, initially disowned her daughter and placed her in the custody of a NGO.
Subsequently, she told media that her daughter had been taken away against her will.
On July 30, 2010 a police party kidnapped Uzma from her residence.
She was nowhere to be found over a year but finally escaped on Sept 19.
Afterwards, she charged around a dozen of persons, including some policemen, for raping her. Presently, four persons, including three policemen, are behind the bars in the rape case.
Her brother was killed outside the court while he was accompanying her sister to a hearing.
