FAISALABAD: Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has announced the provision of precious machinery worth Rs 900 million to Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) to improve sewerage in the city.

According to WASA Managing Director Syed Zahid Aziz, a delegation of JICA will visit Faisalabad during the current month to finalise arrangements.

He said that under the project, heavy duty generators and pumps would be provided to all disposal stations of WASA to redress sewerage-related complaints on top priority.

He said that two pumps of 25 cusec each and a 50-KVA generator would be provided to Chakera disposal station, four pumps of 25 cusec each and a 300-KVA generator to Sitiana disposal station, a pump of 25 cusec and a 150-KVA generator at Ahmad Nagar pumping station No 36 while a pump of 25 cusec and a 150-KVA generator would be installed at 30 Bawa Chak pumpingstation.

JICA will also provide jetting and executor machinery for de-silting of sewer lines and channels, he added. (APP)
