Munawar urges CJ to punish 'torturers'
LAHORE: Amir Jamat-e-Islami Syed Munawar Hassan Thursday urged the Chief Justice to award severe punishment to those who subject human beings to barbaric torture, referring to the missing persons presented before the court recently in a most frail state after being made to suffer inhuman torture.

Addressing a gathering in JI Headquarters Mansoora, Hassan said the Chief Justice himself admitted that people were presented before him in as bad a shape as human carcasses, so 'it is his (CJ's) responsibility to severely punish those who are responsible for this'.

"The county's security institutions and agencies are playing a heinous game with the country and nation with an aim to act upon American orders and fulfill their interests," he claimed.

Munawar Hassan appealed the Chief Justice to put a halt on this horrifying game by awarding a sort of punishment to the culprits involved in kidnapping of the citizens that could make them see what humanity was all about.

He regretted that although the country witnessed election nine times, unfortunately the fate of the people could not be changed. "Corrupt government's cannot remedy the agonies of the people," he added.
