DUBAI: Pakistan leg-spinner Yasir Shah climbed six spots to No.14 in the International Cricket Council (ICC) test rankings following his brilliant seven wicket spell against Sri Lanka.

Shah claimed a career-best seven for 76 as Pakistan stunned Sri Lanka by ten wickets in the first test on Sunday to take the lead in the three match series.

Other Pakistani players also rose in the rankings. Seamer Wahab Riaz jumped 11 spots to No. 41, however, no Pakistani bowler was able to crack the top ten.

Pakistani batsmen Younis Khan is ranked No. 5 and skipper Misbah-ul-Khan is ranked No.9. Asad Shafiq who scored a brilliant century in the first innings of the test against Sri Lanka jumped seven spots to No.12. Wicket-keeper batsman Sarfaraz Ahmed also rose five spots to No.16.

Pakistan is ranked No.6 in the ICC test team rankings.

The top test bowler according to the rankings is South Africa’s D.W.Steyn while the top batsman is Steven Smith of New Zealand.

South Africa is the top ranked test team in the world.
