KARACHI: Inspector General Police (IGP) Sindh, Mushtaq Ahmed Shah, has asked the Police to further tightened the noose around notorious criminals with a sole aim to secure lives and properties of the people and to establish peace in the society.
This he observed while reviewing the Provincial Police Performance report from January 1 upto March 15, 2012.
A statement here on Thursday said that the IGP stressed upon adopting all positive steps for restoring public confidence in Police, besides ensuring early implementation of various police-public friendly policies and proposals.
Mushtaq Shah emphasized the significance of Police-Community Committees at Police stations level and issued directives for their early step-up.
He further directed police to adopt good moral ethics and police code of conduct for enhancing police-public cooperation.
The report disclosed that the Sindh Police was able to arrest/eliminate 103 notorious outlaws/ dacoits carrying 47.1 million reward money.
Police performance report also depicted that during the period 518 police encounters with criminal elements took place resultantly 267 criminals gangs busted, 899 captured red handed, 3,295 dacoits/criminals arrested, 3,527 absconders nabbed and 412 proclaimed offenders arrested.
According to the police performance report, during the period, 109 SMGs, five rifles, 325 shotguns/ repeaters 2,161 pistols/revolvers/mousers, 2 G3 rifles and one LMG recovered from the possession of criminal elements.
The Police report also identified number of police personnel who embraced Shahadat in the line of duty. According to details, out of total 26 Shahadats, 18 Shaheed Police personnel in Karachi, 4 in Sukkur, 3 in Larkana and one in Mirpurkhas, during the stated period.
