Ruckus in NA, PM besieged

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Friday staged a strong protest in the National Assembly session against the presence of Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, who was recently convicted by the Supreme Court in the contempt case, Geo News reported.

The NA session opened on Friday with PML-N members chanting slogans and thumping on desks. The deafening noise and uproars made it difficult for the Speaker to bring the House into order, as the PML-N members surrounding the prime minister’ seat vented their anger and tore the agenda.

The treasury bench members resenting the PML-N misconduct in the assembly said that they alone would be held responsible, if democracy gets derailed.

Law Minister Farooque Naik said the PML-N protest was against rules. Yousuf Raza Gilani was still a member of the National Assembly and the prime minister. The court or the Election Commission has not disqualified Gilani, he said.

Naik said that the resolution of the Hazara province would be moved with the allies’ consensus.

Prayers were also held in the national assembly today for the Bajaur blast victims, while the House approved the National Commission for Human Rights Bill 2012.
