Sources told Geo News that an improvised explosive device (IED), which was planted in the roadside bushes, suddenly went off with a loud bang plunging the area in panic.
The explosion was reported to have occurred around midnight.
Police or rescue sources did not confirm any casualties.
According to police, the bomb would have caused enough devastation had it detonated at a busy hour.
Further investigation was underway.
