ISLAMABAD: As many as 16 lawmakers failed to submit affidavits affirming that they are not holding dual nationality as the deadline set by the Election Commission of Pakistan ended Friday, Geo News reported.

Earlier, the ECP on November 12 had extended the deadline for submitting affidavits to November 30. Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf had also submitted his declaration on November 12.

The Supreme Court of Pakistan disqualified several MPs for holding nationalities of foreign countries. The PPP led government last month failed to table a bill for voting in the Senate that allows the dual nationals to contest general elections.
