Patrick Swayze widow Lisa Niemi opened up about the actor's reaction to learning about his pancreatic cancer.
Speaking at the Amy and T.J. podcast, the American actress shared the heartbreaking moment when Patrick got his diagnosis.
“I’m a dead man”, the dancer said to his wife.
Admitting that she wasn’t familiar with pancreatic cancer, Lisa revealed that her late husband knew the seriousness of this battle.
“I didn’t know much about pancreatic cancer, but he did, and from what he knew anytime you heard someone had had pancreatic cancer it was like, 'Well, he’s out of here’”, she added.
The One Last Dance actress also disclosed that she and her sister in-law have put all their effort into his treatment but even the doctor suggested them to get his “affairs in order sooner than later”, conforming the severity of his cancer.
"Your life turns on a dime and it’s just never been the same after that...it was like living in a complete nightmare 24/7”, she recalled.
Another revelation by The Time of My Life author that left fans mournful is Patrick’s emotional pleas for life.
Discussing their time together she revealed, “We’re walking along. It’s a beautiful day and he looked at me with tears in his eyes, he said, 'I want to live'".
The She’s Like the Wind singer was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer in early 2008 and underwent chemotherapy before his cancer had metastasized to his liver.
Only 20 months later his diagnosis, the Ghost actor died at the age of 57.
