Karachi 'feels like' temperature reaches 45°C amid heatwave

Temperature might reach 42°C during the next two days in Karachi, says chief meteorologist

The residents of Karachi should keep themselves hydrated with the feel-like temperature reaching 45°C on Wednesday as heatwave gripped the metropolis, according toPakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

The current temperature of the city is recorded at 39°C with humidity at 43%. Meanwhile, the winds are blowing from southwest at a speed of 18 to 20 kilometres per hour.

The Met department predicted significant rise in themercury level in the port city from today, surpassing the40°C mark.

According to the Met Office, the heatwave conditions were expected to grip KarachiThatta, Badin and Sujawal districts from today till June 1.

It added that the day time maximum temperatures are expected to rise to 40-42°C in Karachi and 42-44°C in Thatta Badin and Sujawal during the period

Earlier today, Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfraz said that the temperature of Karachi is expected to reach40°C or more.

Sarfaraz added thattemperature might reach 42°C during the next two days in Karachi as Sindh is currently gripped by severe heat.

The chief meteorologist said that the rural areas of Sindh witnessed 53°C this season, adding that in 2017, the temperature of Turbat was recorded at 54°C which is the highest in Pakistan's history.

The Met department recorded 50°C in Jacobabad today at 2pm,49°C in Larkana, Sibi and Dadu, 48°C in Shaheed Benazirabad,47°C in Rohri,46°C inRahim Yar Khan, Bhakkar and Lahore, 44°C in Faisalabad, 41°C inIslamabad and Peshawar and 39°C in Karachi
