LAHORE: Intelligence authorities claimed to have apprehended an alleged spy of Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), India’s top spy agency, police sources said Tuesday.
According to police sources, the arrested man, identified as Ilyas is a former policeman and a resident of a village located in the bordering area.
He had been associated with Special Branch's VVIP protection Unit for 10 year, police sources said.
The initial investigation reveals that the accused had traveled to India and back as many as 20 times in the past eight years. Maps of sensitive Pakistani locations and other documents have been recovered from him.
The alleged RAW agent used to inform the Indian spy agency about the movement and whereabouts of senior police and army officials, police sources claimed.
After initial investigation, the intelligence authorities handed over the accused to police.
