QUETTA: Families of victims of the Kirani road blast continue their sit-in on the second consecutive day on Alamdar road.
At least 89 people including women and children belonging to the Hazara community were killed in a bomb blast at a vegetable market located in Hazara Town on Saturday. Participants of the sit-in which include a large number of women are protesting against the bombing and have refused to bury the bodies of their loved ones.
Seventy-three victims including 16 women have been identified while the remains of seven deceased are yet to be identified. Families claim that after the bombing, 24 people remain missing. The Hazara community is demanding that they be provided security and the army should be called into Quetta for this purpose.
Meanwhile an investigation team which includes the DIG police has been formed to probe the Kirani road blast and a case has been lodged.
The Vice President of the Majlis-e-Wahadat-e- Muslimeen, Maulana Amin Shaheedi has called for restrictions on banned organizations and the army being handed control of Quetta. Addressing a news conference, Maulana Shaheedi said the victims of the blast would not be buried and nationwide protests would continue until demands are met.
Mualana Shaheedi added that security agencies had failed in Quetta and even the injured were not being provided proper medical care.
Meanwhile, protest sit-in by the bereaved families of Hazara community continues for the second consecutive day on Alamdar road, following the brutal killing of 89 people including women and children in Kirani road bomb blast.
Participants of the sit-in which include a large number of women are protesting against the bombing and have refused to bury the bodies of their loved ones until their demand of handing over Quetta into the control of army is met.
