KARACHI: In what was seen as a move to influence trial of Shahrukh Jatoi, prime suspect in the cold blooded murder of Karachi youth Shahzeb Khan, the government has replaced special public prosecutor with a man who belongs to native town of Mr Jatoi.

Geo News senior reporter Afzal Nadeem Dogar said Special Public Prosecutor Shahid Arain has been asked to leave the charge forthwith. Mr Arain has been directed to hand over all the files and record to newly appointed prosecutor.

Muzaffar Solangi, who belongs to Jatoi’s village, has been made the special prosecutor.

Shahzeb’s father Aurangzeb Khan and Investigation Officer Mobeen have expressed serious concerns over the decision.

The IO said that prosecutor’s link to the accused and his access to sensitive record could undermine the trial.
