ISLAMABAD: Parliamentary Committee member, Ghulam Ahmed Bilour said Thursday that progress had been made on the appointment of the caretaker prime minister.

Speaking to the media, Bilour said objections regarding Justice (R) Nasir Aslam Zahid were heard, adding that that there were no arguments in the committee.

An eight member Parliamentary Committee formed to appoint a caretaker prime minister is holding its second meeting on Thursday.

During the first meeting, the committee discussed the names of Mir Hazar Khan Khoso and Rasool Bux Palijo for the caretaker prime minister besides framing rules of business.

The committee is discussing names of Justice Nasir Aslam Zahid and Dr Ishrat Hussain for the coveted post of the interim prime minister during its second meeting today.

The government has nominated Dr Ishrat Husain and Justice (Retd) Mir Hazar Khan Khoso, while the PML-N has finalized the names of Justice (Retd) Nasir Aslam Zahid and Rasool Bux Palijo for the post of caretaker prime minister.

If the committee fails to appoint a caretaker prime minister by Friday, the matter would be referred to the Election Commission of Pakistan which will then make an appointment within two days.
