LAHORE: Faisalabad Wolves beat Bhawalpur Stags by 63 runs in the opening match of the Faysal Bank Super Eight T-20 Cup at the Qaddafi Stadium Lahore.

Faisalabad won the toss and elected to bat first. In their 20 overs the Wolves got to a moderate total of 154 for the loss of 4 wickets.

Useful contributions came from Farukh Shehzad (30) Ali Waqas (39) and Asif Ali (34). Pakistan captain Misbah ul Haq remained unbeaten on 22.

Fahad Masood bowled well for Bhawalpur picking up 2 wickets 14 runs in his 4 overs.

Needing 155 to win Bhawalpur kept losing wickets at regular intervals and never looked like getting to the target and eventually finished on 91 for 8 in the allotted 20 overs thus giving the Wolves a 63 run win.

Khurram Shehzad was the destroyer in chief taking 4-20 of his 4 overs.

Other matches of the day will be played between Abbottabad Falcons and Multan Tigers and Lahore Stallions Vs Sialkot Stallions.
