Lisa Kudrow has opened up about the long-awaited Romy and Michele's High School Reunion sequel.
During her conversation on The Drew Barrymore Show, the Friends alum teased the sequel is closer than ever.
Kudrow, who played Michele in the 1997 classic, also made a shocking revelation that the iconic characters of Romy and Michele originally came from a play written by Robin Schiff.
"So they had to do a backers audition for the play to see if they could even mount the play. And they went to all the [acting] teachers, 'Who do you recommend to audition?', so you know, I went," Kudrow told Barrymore.
She went on to explain, "That was my first audition, ever, for 'Airhead No. 2,' Michele. We were these minor characters. We were on stage a total of seven minutes, in and out, for the whole play."
Kudrow shared, "It was a pilot. We were in the pilot, this actress Christie Mellor and I, Romy and Michele. And it was a pilot and it wasn’t very good."
Additionally, Barrymore asked the actress about the sequel's progress. Kudrow said, "She said it perfectly: we’re as close as we’ve ever been. There’s a script that’s really good, [by] Robin Schiff," referring to her co-star Mira Sorvino.
Barrymore replied, "Oh my God, I just got chills, I really did" to which Kudrow said, "So it’ll happen, I mean, we’ll see."
