A famous singer, songwriter, actress, and author, Lily Allen, recently opened up about her “bad” habit before achieving sobriety.
For the uninformed, the 39-year-old singer checked into a US trauma clinic after telling pals about her being close to a nervous breakdown.
This happened after she caught her husband David Harbour using the celebrity dating app Raya and parted ways in December 2024.
In an interview with Grazia, which was recorded before she entered the clinic and released on Monday, January 20, the Smile crooner spoke about her journey towards being sober.
Allen talked about leaving behind the wild partying ways of her youth and problems with alcohol and drugs.
She quipped, “I think I'm just a completely different person. When I was drinking and taking drugs, I could be quite mean.”
“I spent the best part of my twenties being publicly humiliated and vilified the whole time and sort of having to absorb all of that,” the Hard Out Here hitmaker mentioned.
“And I think when I drank and when I took drugs, it was like, 'Now it's your turn. I'm going to turn it around on everyone else,” Allen noted.
Previously, the pop sensation has discussed her relationship with drinking and admitted that self-medicating was always likely because addiction "runs deep" in her family.
It is significant to mention that Lily Allen, who claimed that quitting alcohol and drugs was “the best decision” of her life, is more than five years into sobriety.
