KARACHI: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh, Shahid Nadeem Baloch, on Friday ordered relevant police officials to adopt tight security measures for re-polling at some constituencies in Tharparkar district.

He said that police should boost their coordination with other law enforcement and intelligence agencies so that re-polling could be held peacefully. “The police deployment should be ensured within limits of fixed polling stations and their surrounding areas, while reserved and anti-riot platoons should also be kept ready,” IGP said.

He said that plain cloth policemen be deployed in areas for advance intelligence collection and they should also be briefed about immediate sharing of intelligence reports so as to avoid any untoward incident.

He said that patrolling and snap checking should be made effective within the precincts of all police stations in district Tharparkar on the re-polling day.
