Budget FY14: Rs750 million allocated for agriculture sector

ISLAMABAD: The government has allocated Rs750 million for the on-going schemes of National Food Security and Research Division in the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) 2013-14.

According to the budgetary document, Rs71.444 million has been allocated for the up-gradation and establishment of animal quarantine stations in the country and Rs230 million on research for agriculture programme in Islamabad.

Rs72 million has been earmarked for special programme for strengthening of SPS facilities and quality inspection services in compliance with WTO--establishment of an integrated national animal and plant health inspection services.

Rs120 million will be spent on the establishment of National Institute of Genomic and Advanced Bio-Technology.

Rs65 million has been allocated for the establishment of Pak-China Cooperation for Agriculture Research and Development, while Rs45 million will be spent on monitoring of crops through satellite technology. (APP)
