ISLAMABAD: Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA), Nadeem Hassan Asif has directed to establish Emergency and Disaster Management stations at five feasible locations across the city to timely respond to any untoward incident during the natural or man-made calamities.
Chairman CDA issued these directions on the eve of his visit to the Directorate of Emergency and Disaster Management at Sector H-11. On this occasion Member Environment, Ahsan Ali Mangi and officers of concerned formation were also present on the occasion.
Asif said that in case of accidents or natural disasters, it is the prime duty of all crew members of the Emergency and Disaster Management to not only save the precious lives of the affected people but also their own lives, adding that they need to demonstrate hard work, enthusiasm and professional skills during relief operation.
He said that Emergency and Disaster Management should chalk out Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for the maximum safety of public and valuable property.
He said that in all five stations of Emergency and Disaster Management, latest machinery, fire extinguish devices, expert firefighters along with their vehicles would remain present and alert round the clock.
He said that these stations would be established in five different sectors of the city and would coordinate with each other in an effective manner in case of emergency.
Chairman CDA directed that emergency related equipments must be made fully functional; and expired or out of order equipments must be replaced timely with the new ones to avoid any interruption during the relief operations.
He also directed for proper care, feed and training of sniffer-dogs used during the rescue operations. He directed for regular rescue drills at high-rise buildings, public offices especially Pak Secretariat buildings and Airport to overcome the mistakes.
Chairman CDA urged for arrangement of proper training of rescue workers both at national and international level inline with modern technology.
Asif directed the concerned formation of the authority to conduct awareness campaign about the safety measures in case of fire at school, college and public levels so that they can play their due role during the natural calamities.
He directed Emergency and Disaster Management Directorate to acquire latest life safety equipments use to rescue the affected people from collapsed buildings. (APP)
