Presidential Election: ECP asks Senate, assemblies to provide member lists

ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has asked the Senate, National and four provincial assemblies’ secretaries to provide a list of members for the upcoming presidential election.

The federal government has directed the ECP to issue a schedule for the presidential election as President Asif Ali Zardari's term is set to expire on September 9. According to law, the presidential election schedule needs to be published 30 days prior to the expiry of the incumbent office's term.

The ECP has announced that the Chief Election Commissioner will be the returning officer for the presidential election.
