KARACHI: At least three alleged bombmakers/terrorists were killed and one more were seriously injured when they accidentally detonated an improvised explosive device (IED) either while assembling or moving it in a flat here on Saturday, Geo New reported

The third-floor residential apartment located in a Patel Para building, where the terrorists were working on the IED, was partially destroyed in the blast.

According to police and forensic teams the explosion occurred while the bombmakers were trying to link the IED with a wireless detonator--most probably a mobile phone-- when someone hit a wrong button.

The police further said the flat was rented out to the alleged terrorists just a week ago after some policemen had vouched for them. Police officials also added the cops, who had helped the terrorists settle down in the apartment, were also under arrest for complicity.

The above blast is second such event that occurred within a couple of hours of another.

The first blast took place near Essa Nagri area here where a bomb planted on a motorcycle went-off, injuring Metropolitan Commissioner, Matanat Ali Khan and his guard.
