Indian government responsible for Pak High Commission security: FO

ISLAMABAD: The Indian Deputy High Commissioner to Pakistan was summoned to the Foreign Office after supporters of the Congress Party's Youth Wing attacked the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi.

During his meeting at the Foreign Office, the Indian Deputy High Commissioner was told that the security of the Pakistan High Commission and Pakistan House was responsibility of the Indian government. The Foreign Office also stressed the need to ensure the security of Pakistani diplomatic staff in India.

According to the Foreign Office spokesman, protesters gathered outside the Indian High Commission and chanted slogans against Pakistan.

Supporters of the Congress party’s youth wing protested against the alleged killing of five Indian soldiers by Pakistani forces at the Line of Control (LoC) tried to enter the Pakistani High Commission. The protesters turned violent as they pushed back the police barricades and scuffled with the policemen. Police resorted to using water cannons to disperse the protestors.

Pakistan on Tuesday completely rejected Indian media allegations about an attack across the LoC in the Poonch Sector in which five Indian soldiers claimed to have been killed, saying that it firmly adhered to the spirit of the 2003 agreement.
