LAHORE: Following the media's airing of unofficial results for by elections in Lahore, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader, Jehangir Tarin claimed that his party has proved that Lahore is no longer a bastion of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
Talking to media persons, Jehangir Tarin said it is strange that the PML-N was celebrating their win on just one seat out of three.
He said PML-N used state machinery to win the by election on NA-122, claiming hundreds of votes were illegally transferred from other cities to Lahore.
However, Tarin added that the PML-N’s votes dropped despite using ‘full force and government’s machinery’ in the Punjab’s capital city.
The PTI leader said his party will bring before media the mistakes in voters’ lists whenever it spots them. “PTI will undertake comparison of voters lists of 2013 with those of 2015,” he added.
In Sunday’s by elections, PML-N’s Ayaz Sadiq reclaimed his seat of NA-122 while NA-144 was grabbed by an independent candidate Riazul Haq. The provincial assembly seat PP-147 went to PTI’s Shoaib Siddique.
Ayaz Sadiq after winning NA-122
After winning NA-122 once again, Ayaz Sadiq said PTI Chairman Imran Khan should move ahead, leaving behind the politics of container.
He said PML-N feels honoured after being elected by the voters from NA-122 for the third time.
Ayaz Sadiq said Imran Khan should join hands with others for the progress and bright future of the country. “For Allah’s sake Imran Khan, think of Pakistan’s betterment,” he added.
He said instead of scaring away the Chinese investment, Imran Khan should welcome the same.
Chaudhry Sarwar of PTI
Chaudhry Sarwar was of the view that a win by a small margin of votes cannot be termed a defeat for the other party.
He said PML-N should worry about its future in Pakistan.
Chaudhry Sarwar said while his party does accept the by election results, it still has its reservations in this regard.
He said our next challenge to PML-N will be the local bodies elections.
Hamza Shahbaz of PML-N
PML-N leader Hamza Shahbaz said his party made a hat-trick by winning NA-122 for the third time.
He said after the judicial commission, the people’s court also brought about a win for PML-N. “Khan sahab, the Election Commission dismissed your allegations but you continued to remain adamant,” he added.
He invited the PTI Chairman Imran Khan to come forward and together with PML-N transform this country into a jewel of peace.
He said now the next battleground will be set in the general elections of 2018.
